PREVENTION & PROTECTION FROM THE PANDEMIC (CORONA VIRUS) AND OTHER DISEASES

As we stay safe in this trying time, by observing all safety precautions. We should also endeavor to make duaa fervently—by asking Allah—to protect us from the pandemic and that He cleanse the world of the virus and all other forms of afflictions in the world today. We should also use this period to reflect more on Allah and take more serious—our Suluk & Sayr (Spiritual Journey)—practically and theoretically.

The following are collections of prayers from the Qur'an, Hadith and from our Shaykhs. May Allah accept our prayers and pour forth His 'Mercy, Tranquility & Divine Pleasure' on the world at large, Ameen thumma Ameen!

From the Sayings and Recommendation of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him):

Protection from Diseases
“Allahumma inni a‘udhu bika min al-barasi wa’l-junuuni wa’l-judhaami wa min sayyi’ il-asqaam
(O Allah, I seek refuge with you from leprosy, and from insanity, and from paralysis, and from evil diseases).”
[Narrated by Ahmad (12592), Abu Dawood (1554) and an-Nasaa’i]

Protection from sudden affliction strike
‘Bismillah illadhi la yadurru ma‘a ismihi shay’un fi’l-ard wa la fi’l-sama’ wa huwa al-samee‘ ul-‘aleem
(In the name of Allah with Whose name nothing can harm on earth or in heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing)’, three times
[Narrated by Abu Dawood (5088)]

Protection from Scorpion bite or any other harm
‘A’oodhu bi kalimaat Allah at-taammaaati min sharri ma khalaq
(I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created)’
[Narrated by Muslim (2709)]

Sufficiency against all things
Qul huwa Allaahu Ahad and al-Mu’awwidhatayn,
in the evening and in the morning, three times
[Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (3575) and Abu Dawood (5082)]

Prayer for well-being
“Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘aafiyata fi’d-dunya wa’l-aakhirah. Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘afwa wa’l-‘aafiyata fi deeni wa dunyaaya wa ahli wa maali. Allahumma astur ‘awraati wa aamin raw‘aati. Allahumm ihfazni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa ‘an yameeni wa ‘an shimaali, wa min fawqi, wa a‘uudhu bi ‘azamatika an ughtaala min tahti
(O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and in the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my faith, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and protect me from that which causes me to worry. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your greatness lest I be destroyed from beneath me).”
[Narrated by Abu Dawood (5074) and Ibn Maajah (3871)]

Prayer for Well-being
“Allahumma inni a‘oodhu bika min zawaali ni‘amatika wa tahawwul ‘aafiyatika wa fujaa’ati niqmatika wa jamee‘i sakhatika
(O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the withdrawing of Your blessing, and the loss of the well-being that You granted me, and the sudden onset of Your wrath, and anything that may lead to Your displeasure).”
[Narrated by Muslim (2739)]

DU`Ā TO PROTECT FROM EPIDEMIC/PANDEMIC

From the book, "The Sealed Nectar in the Biography of the Concealed Pole" (الرحـيـق المـخـتـوم فى سـيـرة القـطـب المـكتـوم), Volume I - by Imam Salahuddin al-Tijani (raa).

"Sidi Muhammad ibn Abi al-Nasr, al-Sharif al-`Alawi, may Allah be pleased with him, related that Sidi Ahmad al-Tijani, may Allah be pleased with him, said;

Whoever wants that Allah (ﷻ) protects him from epidemics and plagues, he should write the following at the entrance of his house:

'فَلَوۡلَا كَانَتۡ قَرۡيَةٌ ءَامَنَتۡ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَـٰنُہَآ إِلَّا قَوۡمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُواْ كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡہُمۡ
عَذَابَ ٱلۡخِزۡىِ فِى ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ۬ (يونس 98)

Fa lawlā kānat qaryatun āmanat fa nafaʿat-hā īmānuhā ʾillā qawma yūnusa lammā āmanū kashafnā ʿanhum ʿadhāba l-khizyi fi l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa mattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīn

“Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment for a time”, [Quran 10:98],

...and the plague (epidemic/disease) will never enter his house bi-'izhnillah (with the permission of God)".

Our master, may Allah be pleased with him, used to instruct his followers - when epidemic strikes - to recite the following du`a':

اللهمَّ سَكِّنْ صَدْمَةَ قَهْرَمانِ الجَبَروتِ،
بِألْطافِكَ الخَفِيِّةِ الوارِدَةِ مِن بابِ المَلَكُوتِ،
حتى نَتَشَبَّثَ بِأذْيالِ لُطْفِكَ، ونَعْتَصِمَ بِك.
أَنْزِلْ قُدْرَتَكَ يا ذا القُدْرَةِ الكامِلَةِ،
والرَّحْمَةِ الشامِلَةِ،
يا ذا الجَلالِ والإِكرامِ

Translation of the du’a:
O Allah, still the sudden strike of the Steward (qahramān) of the Abode of Domination (jabarūt) by Your subtle caring attentiveness (altāfika al-khafiyya) – that emerge from the gate of the world of Dominion (malakūt) – so that we cling tightly to the robes of Your gentle care and take refuge in You.
Send down Your power, O Possessor of complete power, and Your all-encompassing mercy. O Thou of majesty and generosity.

Allāhumma sakkin ṣadmata qahrmāni l-jabarūti bi altāfika l-khafiyyati l-wāridati min bābi l-malakūti ḥattā natashabbatha bi adhyāli lutfika wa naʿtaṣima bika, anzil qudrataka yā dha l-qudrati l-kāmilah wa r-raḥmati sh-shāmilah, yā dha l-jalāli wa l-̂ikrām

CONCERNING THE CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC

The official letter from Imam of the Tijani-Fayda- Imam Cheikh Tidiane Cisse, to all of the followers of Qutb al-Maktum- Mawlana Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) and Sahibul Fayda Mawlaana Shaykh al-Islam al-Hajj Ibrahim Niasse (RA).

This letter is concerning the Corona Virus Pandemic.

As-Salamalaykum dearest family in Allah,

Praise be to the One who created everything and peace and blessings be upon His Beloved (SAW), for whom the creation owes its existence.

I know many of you have been very worried and experiencing fear because of this Corona Virus sickness that is spreading all over the world. That is a normal feeling, but we should all keep in mind what Allah has said regarding these types of trials in the Holy Quran - “Foulness, corruption, and pollution (fasād) have manifested on the land and in the sea from what humanity’s hands have earned, to make them taste some of what they have done, that perhaps they might turn back to Allah” (30:41)

And the beloved Messenger of God has said, as reported by the Noble Sayda Aisha in the Sahih of Imam Bukhari: She asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about plagues and he said, “It is a punishment that Allah sends upon whoever he wills, but Allah has made it a mercy for the believers. Any servant who resides in a land afflicted by plague, remaining patient and hoping for reward from Allah, knowing that nothing will befall him but what Allah has decreed, he will be given the reward of a martyr.”

Another report from Imam Bukhari Sahih states - The Messenger of God said “The martyrs are of five kinds; those who pass away due to plague, stomach illness, drowning, being crushed and those who are martyred in the way of Allah.”

Enough are the words of our Lord and the best of creation to calm our fears. For the believers and true servants, we must remain patient while hoping for Allahs reward, while knowing that nothing will befall us except what Allah has decreed, and if it is decreed that we die from this, then that death is indeed the best of deaths-martyrdom! Allah says in the Holy Qur’an, “Nothing will afflict you except what God has decreed for you” (9:51). Therefore, Follow the guidelines and take sound measures, but be sure that what will be will be. Fear nothing but Allah and increase your worship, zikr and charity. Be vigilant and wise. Help those in need and protect your family and your Faith.

May Allah remove this Corona Virus from us, becuse of His love for the Beloved Messenger of God (SAW), may the followers of Mawlaana Shaykh Ahmed Tijani and Sahibul Fayda Shaykh al-Islam al-Hajj Ibrahim Niasse, serve as a reason for Allah to gaze upon humanity with the eye of compassion and Mercy. And May Allah cause this trial to be a purifier and cleanser for His creation. Amin

PRAYER RECOMMENDATION FOR TIMES OF EPIDEMIC/PANDEMIC

Assalam alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh, beloved brethrens. Trust you all are doing good? This is one of the prayers of Maolana Sheikh Abubakar Atiku Sanka (Radiyallah 'anhu). This was recommended by Sheikh when he was consulted by some people during the nationwide Cholera outbreak in 1970 in Nigeria.

*HOW IT IS TO BE DONE.*

We are to chant “Yaa Lateef” with either of the below a'adaad;
**16641 امخوي*
*116487 زفتويق**
*2146689 طفخومقك*

If the first 'adad (16641 *امخوي* ) is the most preferred by the reciter, he is to start from the smallest 'adad. That is, he is to chant Yaa Lateef *1* (then, he will recite the below qasidah *once*). Thereafter, he will chant Yaa Lateef 40 (the qasidah once); Yaa Lateef 600 (the qasidah once), then after every recitation of 1000 Yaa Lateef (the qasidah once), till the 'adad is completed


If he desires that of 116487 *(زفتويق)*
He is to chant Yaa Lateef 7 (the qasidah, once); Yaa Lateef 80 (the qasidah, once); Yaa Lateef 400 (the qasidah, once); then after every 1000 Yaa Lateef (the qasidah, once) till the 'adad is exhausted.


If it is 2146689 (طفخومقك)
He is to chant Yaa Lateef 9 (the qasidah, once); Yaa Lateef 80 (the qasidah, once); Yaa Lateef 600 (the qasidah, once); then, after every 1000 of Yaa Lateef (the qasidah, once); till the 'adad is exhausted.

THE QASIDAH FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT VERSED IN THE WARSH WRITING STYLE

*يالطيف الصنع يامن كلما
دهم الأمر جلا مادهما

يا غياث المستغيثين ويا
ماضي الحكم إذا ماحكما

نفس الأمر علينا سرعة
إنما الأمر علينا عظما

وسألنا اللطف منك عاجلاً ياكريما أنت رب الكرما
وسألنا اللطف منك عاجلاً ياحليما أنت رب الحلما*

 



This is also one of the prayers of Khaadimu Tijjani Maolana Sheikh Abubakar Atiku Sanka Kano.

FOR PROTECTION AGAINST PLAQUES, OUTBREAKS, AND ALL OTHER FORMS OF SICKNESSES OR DISEASES.

IT SHOULD BE RECITED REPEATEDLY, INDIVIDUALLY OR IN CONGREGATION, AS IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY SHEIKH ATIKU AND SOME OTHER SHEIKHS WHICH THEY RECITED AFTER THEIR DAILY PRAYERS AND WAZIFAH IN THEIR RESPECTIVE ZAAWIYAHS. THE PRAYER (IN FORM OF POEM) GOES THUS:
الا يالطيف يالطيف لك اللطف
فأنت اللطيف منك يشملنا اللطف

لطيف لطيف إنني متوسل
بلطفك فالطف بي وقد نزل اللطف

بلطفك عذنا يالطيف وها نحن
دخلنا في وسط اللطف وانسدل اللطف

نجونا بلطف الله ذي اللطف إنه
لطيف لطيف لطفه دائم اللطف

فداركنا باللطف الخفي أذ العطا
فأنت الذي تشفي وأنت الذي تعفو

أغثنا أغثنا يالطيفا بخلقه
إذا نزل القضاء يتبعه اللطف

بجاه إمام المرسلين محمد
فلولاه عين اللطف مانزل اللطف

عليه صلاة الله ماقال منشد
الا يالطيف يالطيف لك اللطف

READING KITĀB ASH-SHIFĀ DURING EPIDEMICS

The book "Ash-Shifa" is very famous and widely acclaimed book. Its full title is "Kitab ash-Shifa bi ta'reef huqooq al-Mustafa", (Healing by the recognition of the Rights of the Chosen One). 

Its theme is the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w). It gathers all that is necessary to acquaint the reader with the true stature of the Prophet (s.a.w) with esteem and respect that is due to him, and with the verdict regarding anyone who fails to fulfill what his stature demands or who attempts to denigrate his supreme status. 

The author of this book is the great scholar, Qadi 'Iyad ibn Musa al-Yahsubi (d. 544 H). The book has several commentaries and has also been translated in several languages including English and French.

The blessings and virtues of this book are numerous and have been compiled by various scholars. One such virtue is its recitation during widespread epidemics. It has proved to be very effective.

Imam Tashkubri Zaada said, "I heard from the Mashayikh that taking interest in reading and studying the book 'Ash-Shifa' at times of epidemics has been proven to be very helpful and profitable." [Miftah as-Sa'ada 2/131]

Imam Tashkubri Zaada in his epistle "Ash-Shifa li Adwaa al-Waba" cited Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman al-Bistami al-Hanafi from his book entitled "Al-Ad'iya al-Muntakhaba fi Adwiya al-Mujarraba" as saying, "A group of scholars were making Tabarruk (seeking blessings) during epidemics by reading the book of "Ash-Shifa" by Qadi 'Iyad." [See: Al-Kittaani, Al-Madkhal ila Kitaab ash-Shifa 247] 

Imam Ibn Muqri al-Yamani ash-Shafi'i said, "If a sick person reads it or it is recited to him, Allah will restore his health." [See: Al-Khafaaji, Naseem ar-Riyadh 1/4]

Reading and studying Kitab Ash-Shifa has so many benefits that it is difficult to cite all of them in this brief article. Imam 'Abd al-Hayy al-Kittaani wrote extensively and exclusively on its benefits in his book "Al-Madkhal ila Kitab Ash-Shifa" in about 36 pages. 

Our Shaykh, Shaykh Muhammad Namir al-Khateeb (rahimahullah) used to talk on the benefits of reading and studying this book in practically all his lessons. He recommended all his students to read at least one page per day. 

Now we are all at home. So, try to make a Majlis everyday with members of the family where Salat 'alan Nabi (durud) are recited and a selected part of Kitab Ash-Shifa is read and studied. This circle will enable us to connect with the Ruh of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w). It is through his blessing that Allah will send cure, protection and repel epidemics.
